ANTI-Bullying walk
Bullying is a serious problem in Anchorage and around the country. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, nearly one in five students in the United States report being bullied at school each year. In Alaska nearly one in three students reported being bullied in the past year. To combat the problem AK Hopes and Dreams teamed up with Tresa Galloway, the founder of Love Laces Academy in 2019 to hold our “Be the Light” anti-bullying citywide walk to raise awareness, reduce stigma to the victims, and encourages students to stand up against bullying. Although we had to cancel our walks because of COVID we’re back in the saddle and are currently in the planning stages for a walk in September of 2024.
